We are thrilled to finally welcome you to the new and improved website for Force the Issue NJ!
Major credit for this re-launch goes to our partner and collaborator Ihsaan Muhammed ( Ihsaan Designs ) and our Chief Technology Officer, Glenn Wolff-Eisenberg – who, alongside our cast of thousands of… well, dozens of board members, volunteers, donors and supporters, played pivotal roles in conceptualizing, facilitating, and funding the new site.
We want to welcome all of those joining us from The Resistance-Jersey City group and want to take this opportunity to thank their founder, Amber Yoder, for her amazing activism and coalition-building efforts in Jersey City over the last two years, and wish her the best of luck in her next endeavors. We’d like to thank the amazing organizations we have partnered with in the past year, particularly NJ-08 for Progress and the Jersey City Progressive Alliance among many other activists and organizations who have provided us valuable insight and support as we designed this site.
On the new site you will find our first two Platforms for Progress:
- Coordinates is a crowd-sourced directory of progressive and community organizations, searchable and sort-able by your location, the issues you feel passionate about and your interests and abilities as a volunteer. We have 100+ organizations listed so far and look forward to adding many more as we continue to refine and improve this tool. We hope you can take a few minutes to add your own organization or an organization you support to our data set, if you want to take a short-cut and simply email us the name of an organization you think should be listed, we will be happy to add it ourselves as well.
- Community Calendar is our way of keeping you up to date with all the amazing events and opportunities to make an impact in the Garden State. Whether it’s a fundraiser for a local community organization, an call to action to work on a campaign or an opportunity for education on a critical issue, there are no shortage of chances to make an impact every day throughout the state. You can add your event here or email them to us as well.
This website and these platforms were the product of months of hard work, but what we are most proud of as an organization is that we took this time and energy to build them for you – the active and engaged citizens of New Jersey and for you – the passionate and often embattled non-profit organizations working against often impossible odds to improve the lives of your neighbors and communities.
Our hope is that you truly make these Platforms for Progress your own and that they provide tremendous value to you in your endeavors. Our end goal is to build a true coalition in both time and space throughout the state – empowered by our independence, mutual support and desire to make a real difference. In that spirit, we would love to hear from you in terms of what we are doing right, and how we can be doing better.
So what’s next?
So glad you asked! First – as is our tradition – we’d like to invite you to a party:
In addition to celebrating this re-launch, bidding a fond adieu to Amber and – wonder of wonders – taking a few minutes to breathe, we look forward to discussing how you can get engaged in supporting our work both in terms of helping us improve what we have already built but in helping us reach that proverbial “next level” on our path to becoming the premier progressive hub for the Garden State.
We hope you will join us!
