Event Details

Want to spend some time with the attorney Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. dubbed “chief counsel for the protest movement”? With one of the most respected commentators of our day? And with one of the most effective grassroots organizations of our time?

Then you’ll want to join us on November 9 at 6 p.m. when we celebrate the march Onward! toward racial and social justice at our 16th annual Gala!

Our event will feature an incredible line-up of Honorees whose work covers a span of decades – advocates who have dedicated themselves to moving America and New Jersey onward:

Fred Gray, Sr., legendary civil rights attorney who represented not only Dr. Martin Luther King., Jr., but also Claudette Colvin, Rosa Parks and the victims of the shameful Tuskegee medical experiments;

Dr. Eddie Glaude, Princeton University professor, MSNBC contributor and author of Begin Again: James Baldwin’s America and Its Urgent Lessons for Our Own, whose powerful commentary on race relations in America has galvanized the nation;

Black Voters Matter, leading national voting rights organization whose foundational work has resulted in record voter registration and turnout in Georgia;

Howard and Meg Jacobs, generous philanthropists whose support has benefited so many New Jersey residents; and

Sheri Bronstein, Chief Human Resources Officer for Bank of America, which pledged $1.25 billion over the next five years to advance racial equity and economic opportunity.

Each of our Honorees knows the importance of fighting for democracy and justice even when – especially when – they are under threat.

At our event, we will celebrate these Honorees as well as the advocacy the Institute engages in each and every day with you by our side.

Over 10,000 people viewed last year’s event, and we know this year’s will be just as memorable.
